The programme of exhibitions in the Dragonfly Gallery offers a wide range of media from glass and ceramics to oils and watercolour. In addition there is always a unique and varied display of local gifts, crafts and cards.
The Dragonfly Gallery is open from 10.00am to 4.00pm on weekdays and from 10.00am to 1.00pm on Saturdays. Most exhibitions begin with a preview event, usually a coffee morning, on the first Saturday.
The season begins this year with a different kind of event. ‘Once Upon a Time’ is a mini-festival of literature from February 25th to March 11th. In addition to a literature related art exhibition, there will be poetry writing, life writing and illustration workshops in the Wayland House Training Room and ‘meet the author’ and story-telling sessions in the Gallery. There will be a ‘Book Swap’ and competitions. Although children are always welcome in the Gallery, this event is mainly aimed at adults, especially young adults.
Many of the 2017 exhibitions are solo or group shows. For some it will be their first exhibition;other, more experienced artists will have displayed their work in the Gallery on more than one occasion.
The Tourist Information/Visitor Centre shares the Gallery which is managed by a team of friendly and knowledgeable volunteer stewards.
