Thompson charity lunch

On the first Sunday in September every year College Farm in Thompson hosts Lavender’s Lunch held in memory of Lavender Garnier who lived at College Farm for over 40 years.  Lavender & her friend, Betty Norris, started this tradition about 20 years ago to raise money for the restoration of St Martin’s Church and the event has grown from strength to strength every year and is now part of the Brecks Food Festival.  This year we had a record  number of people who came and enjoyed a delicious homemade lunch in glorious sunshine on the lawns at College Farm.  All the food was homemade by the ladies in the village and approximately £700 was raised by the sale of lunch & raffle tickets that went to the Restoration Fund.  Thanks must go to Lavender & Betty for starting this fantastic event all those years ago, to all those who came and supported the event and and to all those who donated their time and energy to this wonderful Wayland event. We look forward to seeing you all next year on Sunday 3rd September 2017 – make sure you put the date in your diary!
